A popular and healthy accompaniment to South Indian breakfast dishes, the spicy and aromatic chutney powder that is known as idly podi or ‘gunpowder’ is a must-have in every kitchen.
Bengal gram, curry leaves, urad dal (black gram), salt, black sesame, red chilies and fried gram.
Idly Podi garnished with a dollop of ghee or gingelly oil spices can be served with idly, dosa and can even be consumed with hot cooked rice.
Best Before Mar 2020 - Idli Powder has a very short best before date (6 months from manufacturing in India) and as a result by the time they reach Australia they are half way through their expiry period. It is safe to consume and may retain it's taste, texture and flavour for more than 6-8 months after this best before date when stored properly.
